Learnings recently internalized.

1. It is dangerous to be a young person and to constantly have people call you special. #

Context is obviously important, but you’re probably not special. You probably aren’t that much smarter than what your life circumstances would have led to anyway. Be wary of clout.

2. Sleep should be the last thing you sacrifice, not the first. #

Make getting enough sleep non-negotiable. The quality and consistency of your sleep will directly impact your performance, your relationships, and your health. Guard it with everything.

3. Don’t abandon bridges. #

Intentionally burning bridges will be painful (but hopefully justified), but unintentionally abandoning bridges will fill you up with regret. Check in with people. Don’t disappear.

4. Trying new things is glorified, but still worth it. #

Most new things you try will not be exciting or fulfilling long-term. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have tried something new in the first place; it’s a very useful process of elimination.

5. You can only connect the dots looking backwards. #

Setting intentions is useful, but it won’t stop things from playing out in completely unpredictable ways. Been there, done that. Good. What’s next?
